Courtney Corbetta has joined WKBW-TV's "AM Buffalo" as a multimedia journalist.

"We welcome Courtney to the 'AM Buffalo' team full-time as Jon Summers retires after 27 years as a contributor for the show," said Michael Nurse, vice president and general manager for WKBW-TV Channel 7. "Jon and Courtney were sharing duties for the last year and, when Jon announced his retirement, Courtney was the perfect fit to join Linda Pellegrino each morning at 10 a.m."

Corbetta is a Western New York native, who grew up in Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School and earned a degree at Niagara University in 2015. She majored in communication studies with a double minor in theater and dance.

"Being a Western New York native, I have grown up watching 'AM Buffalo' for years. I am very much looking forward to taking the next step in my career with WKBW-TV and am excited for what the future holds," Corbetta said.

She will handle the duties of shooting and editing segments showcasing businesses and events around Western New York, and will be a fill-in host when Pellegrino is on vacation.

The Niagara Index named Corbetta one of the "20 Most Intriguing Students on Campus" at Niagara University. She interned with Niagara Frontier Publications, the Buffalo Sabres public relations department and Time Warner Cable News Buffalo. Upon graduation, she worked as a Randstad employee for Time Warner Cable News Buffalo as a freelance news assistant. Prior to her time with Channel 7, Corbetta was a freelance reporter for Niagara Frontier Publications and The Sentinel.

While residing in Pomona, Corbetta served as the dugout reporter and in-game host for the Rockland Boulders Baseball Organization of the Can-Am league. In January of 2016 she was hired part-time for "AM Buffalo."

WKBW, an ABC affiliate of The E.W. Scripps Company, said it is proud to welcome Corbetta to the team.
