Old Fort Niagara held its popular "Winter Camp for Kids" on the fort grounds, Feb. 22-24. The sold-out camp offered area youngsters a chance to experience life 250 years ago and learn some of the skills needed to survive without modern conveniences.
The kids drilled as a military unit, went on a winter journey, learning to make camp and start a fire with flint and steel, tried walking on snowshoes and participated in many crafts.
All said, the camp was a great way for the kids to learn history, acquire new skills and have fun while doing it.
