The Niagara County Department of Employment and Training will hold its next career fair on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Day Road Park in Lockport. Director of Employment and Training Don Jablonski said more than 70 companies have signed up to participate. The career fair is open to everyone, and no appointments or preregistration are necessary.

The USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) board of directors met Tuesday and authorized measures that will advance plans to restore the historic Hotel Niagara in Niagara Falls, transforming the site into a full-service, 160-room "upper-upscale" hotel with restaurants, lounges and banquet facilities.

Gov. Kathy Hochul today directed that flags on all state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of NYPD officer Didarul Islam and the victims of the July 28 shooting at an office building in Midtown Manhattan. Flags were lowered to half-staff at sunrise today and will remain lowered until all of the victims are laid to rest.

The City of Niagara Falls has a new, 1.75-mile path by Buffalo Avenue for walking, biking and jogging. The area begins at LaSalle Waterfront Park. It connects to the Niagara River Shoreline Trail, as the pathway takes users through the LaSalle neighborhood, onto a paved pathway along the LaSalle Expressway, and links with Cayuga Road to the rest of the trail.
