The annual Electric Lights Parade is Saturday, Nov. 3, on Military Road from Fourth Avenue to Packard Road (at Kmart). This year, the parade team is looking to raise more than one ton of food to assist the families and individuals in need of food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This food drive helps feed families that cannot make ends meet for the holidays.

A storm of historic proportions is bearing down on the east coast. Hurricane Sandy is expected to produce high winds, rain, record surf and flooding. The impact of the storm will be felt in Western New York as forecasters predict the storm will turn left into Pennsylvania and New York. Subways in the city are closed.

Due to the possible extreme conditions, the university is canceling all classes scheduled to begin after 4 p.m. today. In addition, all university offices will also close at 4 p.m. to allow employees ample time to commute before the wind warning takes effect. Because of this, the fall community meeting scheduled for today will be postponed to Monday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m.
