Sean Ryan and New York State Assembly member Kimberly Jean-Pierre announced Wednesday the New York State Education Department (NYSED) agreed to take action as a result of the legislators' letter requesting the extension of the Emergency COVID-19 Certificate program past its initial deadline of Sept. 1. The deadline has been extended one year, to Sept. 1, 2022.

ABC will air a highlight show of "Global Citizen Live," a "once-in-a-generation" day of unity across six continents from international advocacy organization Global Citizen, on Sunday, Sept. 26 (7 p.m. EDT). The ABC broadcast will feature exclusive performances from across the globe by BTS, Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo and Elton John. Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced funding is now available to help low-income households that have fallen behind on their utility bills during the COVID-19 pandemic. Administered by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, the regular arrears supplement is available to households who are eligible for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and behind on their heating utility bills, but that do not qualify for the utility assistance offered by New York's Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and Sisters of Charity Hospital have become the first hospitals in Western New York to offer what they called "next-generation technology" for dialysis care called the Tablo Hemodialysis System. The changeover to the new dialysis program within Catholic Health is aimed at improving the patient experience, while reducing the cost and complexity historically associated with dialysis treatment.
