Gov. Kathy Hochul announced New York campgrounds are taking reservations for the 2025 season, with most of the state's 119 public campgrounds opening for the season by May 16. Reservations for campsites, cabins and cottages can be made up to nine months in advance of the planned arrival date.

Niagara County is partnering with Niagara University and paint-recycling company GreenSheen to host a paint recycling event this Saturday, May 3, on the NU campus. Niagara County residents and businesses are welcome to bring up to 50 gallons of latex or oil-based paint in its original container to the event for collections at no cost.

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper once again led the "Spring Sweep," the largest single-day cleanup across Western New York, on Saturday, April 26. The event was also part of the fifth annual Great Lakes Cleanup, a program developed and led by Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper that brings nearly 20 partner organizations across the Great Lakes basin together to clean up along the shores of the Great Lakes.
