Flags to half-staff in honor of retired NYS Police Zone Sgt. Steven W. Greene

Gov. Kathy Hochul today directed that flags on all state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of retired New York State Police Zone Sgt. Steven W. Greene, who passed away Oct. 24 from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 terrorist attack. Flags will be flown at half-staff on Friday, Oct. 31, from sunrise to sunset.
People Inc. awarded NYS Department of Labor funds to support trauma-informed training

Double Up Food Bucks NY (DUFBNY), the statewide nutrition incentive program that provides a free and automatic dollar-for-dollar match on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) purchases of fresh fruits and vegetables, will remain available for SNAP shoppers at all participating DUFBNY locations throughout November, even if SNAP benefits are temporarily unavailable.

Social Security announces 2.8% benefit increase for 2026

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced Social Security benefits, including Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for 75 million Americans will increase 2.8% in 2026. On average, Social Security retirement benefits will increase by about $56 per month starting in January.
