Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, today helped pass the Safe Patient Handling Act. The bill, which he co-sponsored, establishes a statewide patient handling policy for all health care facilities in New York. Ceretto noted this policy ensures that best practices in regard to safe patient handling are followed in medical facilities across New York state.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, and State Sen. George Maziarz, R-Newfane, passed legislation designed to protect taxpayers and ensure that money from the New York Power Authority is not wasted. The legislation would allow NYPA to perform audits of funding it provides to local governments, state agencies and other development projects in Western New York.

A $750,000 challenge grant from The John R. Oishei Foundation to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation has given a jump start to Memorial's $3 million campaign for a new inpatient cardiac/stroke care center. The grant is conditioned on Memorial raising a matching amount.

Assemblyman John Ceretto has announced the passing of bipartisan legislation to restore funding to programs for people with developmental disabilities. Ceretto, who co-sponsored the legislation, worked with his Assembly colleagues to restore funding for the programs that people with developmental disabilities rely on to maintain their quality of life. Ceretto has been a vocal advocate for the restoration of the funding since it was cut from the budget in March.

Three Lewiston gardens have been selected for inclusion in the annual National Garden Festival sponsored, in part, by Visit Buffalo Niagara. In the past, gardens have been located in the Buffalo area, but with the formation of the Niagara Trail of gardens, nine Niagara County gardens will be showcased.
