With the start of camping season, Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos is reminding campers the New York State firewood regulation is still in effect. Untreated firewood may contain invasive pests that kill trees. To protect New York's forests, it may not be moved more than 50 miles from its source or origin.

It took four years to review and then finally approve Ellicott Development's plan to build a plaza on 4.1 acres of land bordering Center, North Eighth and Onondaga streets. Trustees in the Village of Lewiston are hoping it won't take that long so see the development built and open to the public.
