NOCO Express Stores, its customers, and employees recently joined forces to support Hospice Foundation of Western New York. Throughout the entire month of June, paper sunflowers were sold for $1 each at all of NOCO Express' 35 locations to benefit Hospice for a total donation of $11,410.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was joined Wednesday by Seneca Nation President Barry E. Snyder Sr. to present a check for $89 million to the City of Niagara Falls, delivering the first payment as part of the landmark agreement reached in June that resolved a multi-year dispute between the state and the nation.
"By working together and both sides coming to the table in the spirit of collaboration and respect, the state and Seneca Nation of Indians were able to end years of dispute and reach an agreement that is a major victory for all parties involved," Cuomo said.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, from 6:30 to 9 a.m., the Buffalo Fire Department will hold its annual "Fill the Boot" program, with this year's proceeds going to the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research Team, or SMART. The firefighters will be joined by Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta, former Sabres players Andrew Peters, Darryl Shannon and other Sabres alumni on eight separate corners throughout the City of Buffalo to collect funds for the program.
