Gov. Kathy Hochul, with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, announced 10 counties were upgraded from drought watch to drought warning in the Great Lakes region. New York state is encouraging all residents, including those dependent on private groundwater wells, to conserve water whenever possible during the coming weeks.

Gov. Kathy Hochul directed flags on state buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in remembrance of the victims of the Hamas attack on Israel two years ago. Kathy Hochul recently announced an extension of executive order 52, which allows pharmacists to continue administering COVID vaccines, providing access for all New Yorkers who wish to be vaccinated. The executive order will be in place for at least another 30 days while work continues on a long-term legislative solution to protect the immunization and health care rights of New Yorkers.
