The Mason FOREVER Foundation was established in honor of Mason Sawyer Monteleone, an interdisciplinary health science major at the University of Florida in Tallahassee who tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21. He was interested in becoming a physician assistant or an orthopedic surgeon. He graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo, and attended middle school at Lewiston-Porter.

The Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce and the New York Power Authority celebrated the season with their annual late-September gatherings: the Harvest & Hops Festival on Center Street in Lewiston, and the Wildlife Festival outside of the Power Vista and across the NYPA campus.

On Saturday morning, several groups of protein enthusiasts gathered at the Lewiston Stone House where they collected scorecards and set their sights on culinary creations offered as part of the Lewiston Wing Walk. The second annual event showcased the River Region's take on Western New York's favorite food. It was produced by The Roaming Table Food Tours.

Dorothy Julius, owner of Along Garden's Path and first assistant director of the 8th District Federated Garden Clubs (pictured), led an educational workshop for attendees. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District, completed a remedial investigation (RI) report and proposed plan (PP) for Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS) vicinity property H prime (VP-H'). A public comment period for the proposed plan will take place from Sept. 15 to Nov. 13, 2025. A public meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Town of Lewiston Senior Center at 4361 Lower River Road. A court reporter will be present to record public testimony.

Two Lewiston-Porter High School senior students were each presented with a $1,000 scholarship by the Lewiston Service Guild earlier this year. The scholarship recipients are Dominic Tracy of Youngstown, who is pursuing a degree in biochemistry at the University of Florida; and Rayhaan Shaikh of Lewiston, who is majoring in biology on the pre-med track at Niagara University.

These words, reminding Artpark patrons of the power of art - visual, structural, textural, musical - were officially presented to the community on Saturday. They are part of "Guiding Light," a colorful new installation at the foot of the Artpark Amphitheater staircase.
