The Friends of the Lewiston Library invite the community for an evening of festivities at the annual friendly gathering at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. Organizers said the event is always a crowd-pleaser, as the Friends showcase the support and gifts the group has sponsored this year for the Lewiston Public Library.

Despite a Bills-Jags "Monday Night Football" game that evening, a good-sized crowd visited to learn more about a new topic of interest. Namely, the status of the Town of Lewiston Environmental Commission and possible plans for its restructuring.

Artpark & Company wrapped its 50th anniversary season on Saturday with a sold-out Mainstage Theater concert featuring Young the Giant and Cage the Elephant. Fans couldn't have been happier with the "Neon Pill Tour" setlists, as they sang, danced in the aisles, and celebrated the end of the summer music schedule in Lewiston.

Amelia Faddoul was crowned Peach Queen on Sunday night at the close of the 66th annual Niagara County Peach Festival. The 20-year-old Niagara Falls resident is a Niagara University junior. With the win, she earns a $4,000 scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston.

On Friday, standing outside the Lewiston-Porter High School campus, New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, along with Assemblyman Angelo Morinello and Superintendent Paul Casseri, called on Gov. Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Transportation to reconsider their decision not to install a traffic light outside the school.
