A team of Let's Goat Buffalo goats has deployed to the campus of iconic Silo City, one of Buffalo's most notable landmarks. The pilot project is aimed at eliminating invasive mugwort and is sponsored by the Western New York Land Conservancy as part of its ongoing effort to develop The Riverline in downtown Buffalo.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced federal funding to the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Swormville Fire Co. to help these first responders protect communities from COVID-19. Hamburg received $4,161.29 while Swormville, serving Amherst and Clarence, was awarded $3,265.76.

National Grid is asking approximately 6,000 customers in parts of Snyder, Amherst, Eggertsville and in an area near the Buffalo VA Medical Center to continue to reduce unnecessary electricity use, as crews work around the clock to repair damaged electricity equipment at nearby substations. The request is being made as a precaution and includes a second outbound call to customers in the impacted areas requesting reduced usage.

The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum will reopen for the 2020 season on Wednesday, July 8. The museum was forced to keep its doors shut due to COVID-19 restrictions, but received permission to open as part of phase four of "New York Forward" reopening guidelines.

After a 27-year absence, this historic "Buffalo Born" radio station looks to have a strong reemergence on local airwaves, which will be music to the ears of Western New Yorkers who could not find any trace of the classic standards from the "Great American Song Book" anywhere on the AM or FM dial.

An innovative collaboration with several partners will increase internet access by means of public Wi-Fi hotspots for dozens of rural towns in Niagara and Orleans counties, according to Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey and Orleans County legislator Lynne Johnson, who are co-chairs of the Niagara-Orleans Regional Alliance (NORA). Deployment is already underway.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, in cooperation with seven Great Lakes states and two Canadian provinces, announced the second annual "Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Landing Blitz," a regional campaign to inform boaters and others about the risks of introducing and spreading these invasive pests. During this coordinated outreach effort, partners throughout the Great Lakes region will be educating the public at hundreds of water access sites from June 28 to July 5.
