Tops raises over $321,000 in 30th year helping JDRF find a cure for Type 1 diabetes

Tops Friendly Markets once again partnered with JDRF as it embarked on a 53rd year to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes (T1D). The campaign, which began Sunday, March 5, and ran through Saturday, March 25, raised $321,000. This was the 30th year Tops has helped run the JDRF campaign at its stores.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 30-year-old Dino A. Bruscia of Buffalo pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of arson in the third degree (class "C" felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the only charge in the indictment against him ahead of a jury trial that was scheduled to begin next week.

Ross announced today that Adrian Goudelock aka AD, aka Ace, aka Ace Boogs, 40, of Buffalo, who was convicted by a federal jury of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, five kilograms or more of cocaine, attempted possession and possession of five kilograms or more of cocaine, and money laundering conspiracy, was sentenced to serve 324 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. Co-defendant Shamar Davis, who was also convicted at trial, was previously sentenced to serve 150 months in prison.

Congressman Brian Higgins secured $2 million in the federal 2023 budget to expand and improve telehealth services for Western New York senior citizens, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and people with Alzheimer's. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $2.5 million in new state funding for services to individuals impacted by the shooting at the Tops market on Buffalo's east side on May 14, 2022. The Buffalo Urban League will lead a new partnership with Community Health Centers of Buffalo to operate the Buffalo United Resiliency Center with new state funding provided by the New York State Office of Victim Services through June 2025.

Flynn announced 24-year-old Dequan Richardson of Cheektowaga pleaded guilty this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to one count of murder in the second degree (class "A" felony), one count of assault in the first degree (class "B" felony), two counts of assault in the second degree (class "D" felony), and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (class "C" felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest charge in the indictment.
