Intandem: Annual golf fundraiser rescheduled

The Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation, Intandem's charitable foundation in Niagara County, has announced a new date for its annual golf raffle. Originally planned as a May event, the raffle drawing will now be held as a Facebook Live online event at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25.

Over 20 families participated in the VFW Post 313 Youngstown Memorial Day car drive-by remembrance Monday at Universal, Saint Bernard's, Oakland Rural and Old Fort Niagara cemeteries. At each site, veterans got out of their vehicles and offered a salute to their fallen comrades and a wreath was placed at the War of 1812 monument at Old Fort Niagara.

Kaleida Health President and CEO Jody Lomeo said, "Today we received official approval from the New York State Department of Health for the waiver applications to resume limited elective surgical cases at Oishei Children's Hospital and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. We have also received confirmation that the waiver applications for the Buffalo General Medical Center and our two surgery centers are currently under review."

After seeing a post on Facebook about a donation to Mount St. Mary's from Brickyard Pub & BBQ, Californian Rosemary Miklitsch reached out to the Lewiston restaurant to match the previous donation of 250 meals. As it turns out, Rosemary grew up in Lewiston, and her grandfather, Dr. George Berry, was a doctor at MSM many years ago. Rosemary's parents also received care at Mount St. Mary's.

Niagara University's Border Community SERVICE program is leading an effort distribute face masks to seniors in the Niagara Region. The organization is focused on enhancing regional emergency preparedness. It solicited the participation of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members, and partnered with the volunteer group Operation Sewing Squad - Flattening the WNY Curve to make the masks, which it has distributed to local organizations that help the senior and other vulnerable populations in the county.

No. 1, Youngstown Fire Co., Tri Community Ambulance, Ransomville Fire Co., Cambria Fire Co., Lewiston Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriff's Department held an "Appreciation Parade" Saturday evening for Mount St. Mary's health care workers. Lights were flashing with cheers and sirens sounding for hospital staff as the procession moved through the main parking lot as a sign of gratitude for those keeping the community safe and healthy.

Higgins announces launch of 'Get My Payment' portal

Congressman Brian Higgins announced residents can now check the status of direct payments provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. On Wednesday, the U.S. Treasury announced the launch of the "Get My Payment" app, which allows Americans to track the status of their emergency relief funding and add bank direct deposit information if the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doesn't already have it on file.
