Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Chevelle Sherrill, age 44, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty this morning to manslaughter in the first degree in the killing of Calvin Wroten, age 48, also of Niagara Falls, on Jan. 5, 2022. Sherrill admitted to shooting Wroten, who was her boyfriend, with a shotgun inside the apartment they shared.

Flynn announced a 16-year-old male from Buffalo pleaded guilty this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan, a designated Youth Part Judge, to four counts of manslaughter in the second degree (class "C" felonies), one count of assault in the first degree (class "B" violent felony) and one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree (class "D" felony).

Rodriguez announced $100,000 in funding will be allocated to the Community Action Organization of Western New York to assist East Buffalo residents with housing security. The funding will be used to provide case management and rental and mortgage assistance to 100 families and individuals to prevent evictions and help families maintain safe, stable and permanent housing.

The Seneca Nation is hosting a two-day event of fun and camaraderie to support an important cause. Funds from the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Charitable Golf Tournament, on Aug. 7-8 at Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course in Lewiston and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, will support the fourth World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference. The Seneca Nation will host the conference in July 2024, marking the first time it will be held in the U.S.
