With Niagara County expecting a significant snowstorm beginning Monday and lasting through Tuesday, the Niagara County Department of Health announced the Feb. 16 vaccination distribution at Kenan Center has been postponed to later in the week.

One dead in Lewiston sledding accident

On Feb. 6 at 10:14 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an accident on the sledding hill at the Clyde L. Burmaster Park in the Town of Lewiston. Responding members of the Town of Lewiston Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office located and confirmed two injured parties, a 16-year-old female and a 3-year-old male. The two were apparently riding a sledding tube when they struck a tree at the bottom of the hill.
NYS: $1.5 million to improve services for victims of domestic violence through access to technology

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced more than $1.5 million in federal funding will be directed to state-licensed domestic violence service providers for mobile devices and improved Wi-Fi access. The improved technology will allow programs and shelters to better serve victims and survivors of domestic violence who are facing increased isolation and difficulty accessing services due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

DiNapoli: Statewide local sales tax collections declined 10% in 2020

Local government sales tax collections declined by 10% overall in 2020, or $1.8 billion, compared to the previous year, according to a report issued by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. This decline was steeper than the drop during the Great Recession, when local sales tax collections fell 6% statewide in 2009 compared to 2008.
