'100 deadliest days': Teen driver deaths jump in summer months

Across the country, 13,135 people have been killed in a crash involving a teen driver between 2019-23. Over 30% of those deaths occurred during the "100 deadliest days" between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to a AAA review of crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTHSA). On average, 8 people are killed per day in teen-involved driving crashes in the summer, compared to 7 per day during the rest of the year.
Niagara County clerk urges residents to sign up for fraud alert

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski urges residents to sign up for a free service that will help protect them from title fraud. Fraud Alert is a tool provided through the clerk's office that alerts people whenever a document, such as a deed or a mortgage, is recorded under their names with the Niagara County clerk.
Niagara County receives grant to enforce DWI ignition lock requirement

The Niagara County Probation Department announced it has received a grant aimed at enhancing DWI enforcement that targets convicted drunk drivers who break the law by operating vehicles without ignition interlock devices (IID), as well as circumventing the use of or tampering with the devices.

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.17, down 1 cent from Monday, May 19. One year ago, the price was $3.59. The New York state average is $3.13, no change from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.67.
