Niagara County announces conviction

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Kalique Miller, age 19, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced to spend the next 30 years in prison following his conviction of the crimes of attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault of a police officer, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Hochul celebrates New York state parks and historic sites centennial

Gov. Kathy Hochul today celebrated the centennial of the State Council of Parks establishment on April 18, 1924. Landmarks across the state will be illuminated in "parks green" and "centennial gold," while a special centennial flag will be raised at parks and historic sites across the state to commemorate the day.

NFPD finds deceased female on Easter Sunday

At approximately 1:54 p.m. Sunday, March 31, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a report of a possible domestic violence disturbance at a location in the 2400 block of Orleans Avenue. Upon arrival, patrol officers located an unresponsive female on the floor, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
NYS: Up to $100,000 available for stigma reduction projects

The New York State Office of Mental Health announced up to $100,000 is available to fund projects aimed at reducing the stigma often associated with mental illness. Funded through voluntary contributions made by taxpayers when filing their returns, the Mental Illness Anti-Stigma Fund tax check-off program provides $20,000 in one-time grants for anti-stigma initiatives.

The "Prospective Plantings" report provides the first official, survey-based estimates of U.S. farmers' 2024 planting intentions, according to Charles Walker, New York state statistician of the National Agricultural Statistics Service. NASS acreage estimates are based on surveys conducted during the first two weeks of March from a sample of approximately 72,900 farm operators across the U.S.
