In the Artpark & Company season guidebook, Executive Director Sonia Kozlova Clark writes, "In our visioning process (speaking of a new master plan), we are inspired by the idea that ARTPARK = ART + NATURE + CULTURE for all." On Sunday afternoon, that idea became reality.

Fearing thunderstorms would postpone (or worse, cancel) Tuesday's outdoor concert with Chris Isaak, Artpark & Company officials moved the show into the Mainstage Theater. It was a smart move, as the colors of the concert hall matched perfectly with the singer's colorful production - not to mention his outfit and the duds of his traveling troubadours.

Artpark's "Tuesdays in the Park" concert this week was definitely weird. Not weird as in strange, but weird as in Al Yankovic. He brought his "Strings Attached" tour to Lewiston - complete with a top-notch backing band, a 41-piece orchestra, numerous video packages, and, of course, unique costume changes.

A smaller but peppier Artpark crowd was treated to the most fun concert of the 2019 "Tuesdays in the Park" concert series this week. Sugar Ray, Better Than Ezra and Emerson Hart of Tonic had people on their feet, singing and dancing along to some of the 1990's biggest hits.

The 2019 "Tuesdays in the Park" summer concert series began this week with a pair of crowd-pleasing performances by rock 'n' roll legends Sammy Hagar and Night Ranger. The "super" show - named that way for its unique pricing and seating configurations - lived up to billing, as the acts enthusiastically ran through five decades of hit songs, paired with a generous sampling of deep cuts.

The Artpark & Company board of directors has confirmed selection of the lead design team for its master plan: Internationally recognized architecture and design firm SO - IL; landscape architects West 8; and theater, acoustics and digital design consultancy Charcoalblue. They are tasked with the development of a strategy to revitalize the Artpark grounds, while improving connectivity, facilities and programs.

Artpark & Company announced the return of Plasticiens Volants, the world-renown French street theater group that visited Lewiston in 2017. PV will stage the U.S. premiere of its show "Pearl: Secrets of the Sea" on Aug. 22.

Right before Christmas, Empire State Development announced Artpark & Company was the recipient of a $100,000 award from the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council. The money will go toward the creation of a master plan - a road map outlining what Artpark could and should be now and well into the future.

In honor of Fat Tuesday - and as New Orleans celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2018 - it was announced Feb. 13 that the "Voodoo Threauxdown" headlined by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and featuring Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band, will make its way to Lewiston. The performers will bring their touring street party to Artpark's "Tuesdays in the Park" on Aug. 14.
