County DPW issues advisories on snow plowing, mailbox damage

During the winter season, various Niagara County municipalities, in the course of their work involving snow removal and/or ice control, encounter many problems. Two of these directly involve the public. The first is the depositing of snow on highways or shoulders by private individuals, and the second being mailboxes damaged during snow removal.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, Grand Island Fire Co. firefighters responded to a Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Metro bus fire at 2850 Grand Island Blvd. Nineteen passengers made their way to safety and were provided with temporary shelter at the nearby Riverwood Health Care Center, according to GIFC Chief Greg Butcher.
