Niagara Falls State Park announces Native American handicraft lottery

Applications for the 2012 lottery for Native American handicraft sales permits are now available at the Niagara Falls State Park administrative office. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and registered as a Native American or provide verifiable proof of Native American heritage.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, is sponsoring Assembly bill 8800-A, legislation that would authorize the use of school buildings and sites for religious meetings and worship when the facilities are not in use for school purposes. Since the services hosted by these organizations are open to the general public, Ceretto said there is no reason why they should be prohibited from using public buildings.

The Niagara University women's hockey team is holding its annual "Pink the Rink" game on Friday, Feb. 3, when they host Mercyhurst University at 7 p.m.

All four of the women's hockey teams in the College Hockey America conference are taking part in the sixth annual "Skate for the Cure" fundraiser. The program was started to help raise awareness and funds toward the fight against breast cancer. In an effort to "pink" Dwyer Arena, the hockey team will wear custom-made pink jerseys and encourage everyone in attendance to join them by also wearing pink.
