Niagara County Community College and Niagara Falls City Schools were part of the statewide "Women's Empowerment Draft" throughout the month of March. The two schools joined 24 other colleges and 30 grade schools to collectively celebrate Women's History Month. The program, created by Alfred University's Art Force 5, uses a pro-sports theme to build enthusiasm for historic icons.

New York Power Authority fishing facilities including the fishing pier at the base of NYPA's Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant will open for the season Friday, April 1, weather and water levels permitting. The fish cleaning station and handicap access elevator at the dam site will also be available if temperatures remain above freezing.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz on Monday announced an agreement between New York state, Erie County and the NFL's Buffalo Bills franchise for a $1.4 billion new stadium in Orchard Park. Hochul's negotiations secured a 30-year commitment for the Bills to remain in Buffalo, and a combined $550 million from the NFL and Bills - approved by the NFL owners.

While discussing potential candidates, the committee said it was important to "find an individual who truly encapsulates the spirit of Dyngus Day. New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez on Wednesday announced work has begun on a $2.9 million project that will repair or replace 12 culverts in Erie and Niagara counties, "enhancing safety and reducing the risk of flooding along several important roadways for the movement of people and commerce in Western New York."

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development announced the launch of the new Niagara County Façade Program (NCFP). The NCFP will provide matching grants up to $50,000 for eligible businesses in order to rejuvenate their properties to help bring vibrancy to the central business districts in communities across the county. The county has allocated $3 million for the program through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
