Kearns and the Erie County Office for People with Disabilities will hold the semi-annual "DisAbility Awareness Day" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the newly renovated Erie County Auto Bureau located in the Urbandale Plaza, 2122 George Urban Blvd., Depew. No appointment is required for this community outreach event.

Erie County's need for affordable housing remains a chief concern of the Poloncarz administration, and Tuesday's third-annual housing summit drew dozens of elected officials, affordable housing developers, members of local planning and zoning boards, and concerned citizens to the Alberta Place affordable senior housing complex in the Town of Amherst to discuss the issue and work together on solutions.

A tractor-trailer, loaded with 16 pallets of relief donations from Grand Island, began its trip from the Southern Tier town of Fillmore to Boone, North Carolina, on Oct. 7. It began its journey at Grand Island Town Hall two days earlier. The full trailer happened as the result of efforts by three men who live on the same street near Huth Road Elementary School.
