Erie County Fair named largest east of the Rockies

A national ranking of top fairs and exhibitions has named the Erie County Fair the largest county fair east of the Rocky Mountains, the fourth-largest county fair in the U.S., and 13th-largest fair overall in North America in 2018. The ranking of fairs, based on attendance, is published annually by CarnivalWarehouse.com. The "Top 50 Fair" list includes all county and state fairs, exhibitions and rodeo shows in the U.S. and Canada.

The Erie County Agricultural Society has announced a revised gate admission structure. Under the plan, which will go into effect during the 180th Erie County Fair in 2019, full-price, adult gate admission will increase from $10 to $12. The revised admission cost is the first gate increase for the Erie County Fair in a decade.

Trend Setters Hair Design held a ribbon-cutting on Monday, Dec. 10, at its new location at 2094 Grand Island Blvd. Owner Karen Benninger cut the ribbon along with employees, town officials, and members of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. The Erie County Department of Health has confirmed a recent émigré treated at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital has been diagnosed with measles. This individual had visited multiple venues in Erie County, potentially exposing others to measles from Dec. 4-11.

Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority signals approval of proposed 2019 Erie County budget, 4-year plan

The Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority board of directors on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution approving the proposed 2019 Erie County budget and accompanying four-year plan, submitted by the Poloncarz administration on Oct. 12. In its resolution, the ECFSA board stated its finding that "the 2019-22 financial plan is complete and compliant with NYS Public Authorities Law," and that, as a result, the ECFSA itself would remain in an advisory status.
