On Feb. 4, West Street Elementary School held a fundraiser for the American Red Cross disaster relief fund to help victims of the tornadoes in Florida and the widespread fires in California. Children were asked to donate a dollar to enter a coloring contest and, if at least $200 was raised, then Principal Mr. Mong would have to kiss a goat (this year's leadership theme is country/farm).
Niagara University accounting students offering free help for 2024 tax returns

It's tax season, and accounting students from Niagara University's Holzschuh College of Business Administration and members of its accounting society and Beta Alpha Psi will again provide members of the Niagara Falls community free tax preparation assistance through the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which offers free tax help for low- to moderate-income families, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and those with limited English proficiency.

Structure fire in Town of Niagara

Record attendance at state parks

Kathy Hochul announced state parks, historic sites, campgrounds and trails operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation saw a record 88.3 million visits in 2024. Total visits statewide surged by over 4 million, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous record year in 2023.

Wegmans customers donate $2.5 million to hunger relief

Customers of Wegmans Food Market stores raised more than $2.5 million during the company's fall 2024 hunger relief checkout scanning campaign, known regionally as "Check Out Hunger" or "Together Against Hunger." This campaign allows customers to donate any amount at checkout, with 100% of the proceeds going to each store's local Feeding America food bank partner.
