HANCI to host awards luncheon honoring local citizens' contributions to community

The Health Association of Niagara County Inc. (HANCI) will present five awards during its annual meeting and luncheon taking place at noon Sept. 19 at the Niagara Falls County Club. The nonprofit agency, which serves all of Niagara County, will also conduct elections for its board of directors.

Niagara County to host paint collection event in Town of Niagara

Niagara County Legislators Chris Robins and Chris McKimmie announced Niagara County will host a paint collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Veterans' Memorial Park in the Town of Niagara. Any latex- or oil-based paint in its original container can be accepted at no cost. Residents and businesses are allowed to bring up to 75 gallons of paint to the event.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced a Niagara County jury returned a guilty verdict in the case against Time Thomas Jr., age 30, of Buffalo, Tuesday morning. Thomas was found guilty of all 10 counts in the indictment against him, including criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, and drug possession charges.

Someone purporting to be from the Niagara County Department of Health is calling and saying a person's home-delivered meals will be canceled if they do not immediately pay for their meals. The caller then attempts to get the senior's personal information.
