Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's Schoellkopf Health Center, a 120-bed nursing home in downtown Niagara Falls, hosted a special Veterans Day luncheon Monday to honor its resident veterans for their service to our country, and provide an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifices of those who wore the uniform.

Niagara University observed Veterans Day with a special celebration in honor of the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., former president of Niagara University and founder of its veteran program, and Rev. Lt. Thomas M. Conway, a Navy chaplain and Niagara University alumnus who received the Navy Cross for giving his life to bring spirituality and peace to the crew of the USS Indianapolis.

The 2025 budget passed with a minimal tax increase $3 per thousand to homeowners and $35 per thousand to businesses. In comparison to the rising costs the town has to endure, I believe it is fair without having to cut any services or programs. Thank you to our department heads and Town Board for working through this process.

SUNY Niagara will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, on the Sanborn campus. The ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road. The event is free and open to the public.

The $6.2 million, four-megawatt project, completed in partnership with Montante Solar and Pivot Energy, features 7,500 bifacial solar panels, mounted on a smart "tracker" racking that follows the sun throughout the day to maximize energy production.

Niagara County Public Works Commissioner Garret Meal today announced the Niagara County Golf Course on Davison Road in Lockport will be closed Monday Oct. 28, through Wednesday Oct. 30, so that the parking lot can be paved. Groff's Café on the Green will also be closed during this time. The golf course and restaurant will reopen Thursday, Oct. 31.
