Some residents have been objecting to the Wheatfield Town Board's decision to not do mosquito spraying this year, and are questioning Supervisor Bob Cliffe's estimates of the cost of the spraying. (see June 16 Tribune)

County water line work on Lockport Road in Wheatfield is about to begin. Some preliminary work has already been done, but by July 5, large equipment should be on site to start putting in the large pipe, according to project director Rob Klavoon.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, is pleased to announce the passage of legislation to allow Nik Wallenda of the legendary Flying Wallendas family to traverse the Niagara Falls River Gorge on a high wire. Ceretto noted that the event would help promote tourism and increase local revenue for the economically distressed region.

The Niagara County Legislature filled a seat vacated by the resignation of popular freshman lawmaker Vincent Sandonato Tuesday night, overwhelmingly approving the nomination of Cheree J. Copelin to fill out Sandonato's term representing the LaSalle-based district in the County Legislature.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, tonight released the following statement regarding the movement of legislation he supports to allow Nik Wallenda to traverse the Niagara Falls River Gorge on a high wire. The bill was unanimously passed by the Assembly Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development committee today and is now one step closer to being passed by the full Assembly.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, State Sen, George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, Town of Lewiston Councilman Mike Marra, and Lewiston Supervisor Steve Reiter met Wednesday with New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey to discuss several plans to make much-needed short and long-term improvements to Niagara Falls State Park, Joseph Davis State Park and state parks throughout the Niagara Region.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, blasted the Assembly Majority on Monday for denying an up or down vote by the entire Assembly on legislation that would return state lands currently receiving property tax exemptions back to Niagara County's tax rolls. The bill, which was delivered a setback in the Rules Committee, which is controlled by New York City Assembly members, was rejected along party lines.
