It's Girl Scout cookie time again. Enthusiastic hordes of young saleswomen began the time-honored tradition of knocking on doors last month and now are taking advantage of the holiday season by enticing shoppers at stores around the area.

Assemblyman John D. Ceretto thanked members of the community Thursday who donated supplies to victims of "Superstorm" Sandy. Ceretto's office received a massive amount of supplies, which will be shipped downstate to communities devastated by the October storm.

A Love Canal community meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15. The meeting will be held at the Frontier Volunteer Fire Hall at 2176 Liberty Drive, Niagara Falls. The Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission will hold its annual "Feed the Falls" initiative in Niagara Falls on Thanksgiving Day. Mission staff and volunteers from local churches and the community will prepare 1,000 turkey dinners and deliver them to the homebound, seniors and families in need.

Hundreds of Red Cross blood drives have been cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy, representing a loss of thousands of blood and platelet products.
