Village of Lewiston to pay amended water bill; native grasslands to be enhanced

Since 2002, the Village of Lewiston - through no fault of its own - has paid the Niagara County Water District only 54 percent of what was due for its allotted water usage. The municipality was supposed to pay $1.40 per $1,000 gallons used, but instead was charged and paid 75 cents per 1,000 gallons. That will change tomorrow, when the village mails a check to the county for the full amount, $132,915.61.
Sanborn to celebrate new streetscape on Oct. 13

The hamlet of Sanborn will celebrate the completion of its streetscape project from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. The ceremony will include invited guest speakers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and refreshments under the tent at Firemen's Park, adjacent to the Sanborn Fire Co. on Buffalo Street (Route 429).

In announcing endorsements, the Town and Village of Lewiston Republican Party reports history was made this year in Lewiston : seven out of eight GOP-endorsed candidates are running unopposed. This includes Supervisor Steve Reiter, Councilman Ron Winkley, Councilman Ernie Palmer, Legislator Bill Ross, Legislator Clyde Burmaster, Town Justice Thomas Sheeran and Town Justice Hugh Gee.
