It's that time of year again! Lewiston's favorite night of music, the "Summer of '69," will be rolling into town at 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, in Academy Park. Hang loose with Lewiston's own 1960s rock musicians as they reunite for a far-out, free concert of favorites from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

With stormy weather in the forecast, and other Lewiston events already modified or canceled Saturday, Artpark & Company moved its annual Strawberry Moon Festival into the Mainstage Theater. The pivot was successful: A Native American marketplace smartly lined the walkways, the smoke dance competition was held in front of an enthusiastic (and seated) audience, and the headline artists performed on the theater stage.

At its May meeting, the SUNY Niagara board of trustees unanimously approved a $48 million operating budget proposal for the coming fiscal year. Under the spending plan, tuition would stay at the current cost of $2,568 per semester for New York state residents. The college's student fee schedule would also remain unchanged.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Duvan A. Berrio-Hernandez, no permanent address, was sentenced today in County Court by Judge Caroline Wojtaszek to serve the next 20 years in State Prison for his conviction of criminal sex act in the first degree. Berrio-Hernandez previously admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in Niagara Falls on Nov. 5 of last year.
