Greenway: Standing committee approves Niagara County & Lewiston projects

On Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Niagara County DPW Jeffrey Gaston and Town of Lewiston Parks and Recreation Department Director Mike Dashineau presented projects to the Niagara River Greenway Commission's Host Communities Standing Committee, a body of appointed and elected officials who oversee projects financed by the Greenway Recreation/Tourism Fund.

The Lewiston-Porter Lancers boys basketball team has played tough non-league competition all season. Wednesday night, the team faced another challenge in Buffalo's Middle Early College Kats. Despite a physical and highly contested battle, the Lancers fell versus New York's No. 4 team in Class C, 72-69.
Not so fast: Morinello favors lowering Lewiston speed limit

New York State Assemblyman Angelo Morinello on Wednesday said he supports the Village of Lewiston's goal to lower the speed limit on Center Street to make the roadway more walkable. He contacted Niagara Frontier Publications to clear the air, in light of reports he received from Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting.

Traveling on the road to play a basketball game in a hostile environment is no easy task. The Lewiston-Porter Lancers felt the affects of playing in Niagara-Wheatfield's gym Tuesday night, but as good teams do, the Lancers were able to overcome an early stumble. Lew-Port defeated the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons, 80-51, Tuesday, in a game that was close for the first 16 to 17 minutes.
