Sarah Sattler, BSN, RN, CCRN, has been named nurse manager of the emergency department and intensive care unit at Mount St. Mary's Hospital. A resident of Niagara County, she joined Catholic Health in 2013, most recently serving as a nurse educator for the health system.

Stella Niagara celebrates 8th grade graduation

On Tuesday, June 30, Stella Niagara Education Park proudly held a graduation ceremony for the eighth grade Class of 2020. Following guidelines from New York state, SNEP's 335-foot parking lot was transformed into family carrels decorated with blue and gold balloons and labeled artistically by students armed with sidewalk chalk.
NCCC announces plans for fall semester

Niagara County Community College has announced plans for the fall semester, which begins Aug. 31. The college will offer in-person, online and hybrid classes, as well as face-to-face labs that require hands-on instruction such as culinary, CADD, health sciences and other related courses. The announcement was made in conjunction with SUNY approving the "Fall 2020 Reopening Plan for NCCC."

Artpark & Company has announced more feature films confirmed for its new drive-in series: "Rocketman" starring Taron Egerton, "based on a true fantasy" telling the story of Elton John's rise to fame on July 14 (8 p.m.); and Jamie Foxx's Oscar-winning portrayal of Ray Charles in "Ray" on July 21 (8 p.m.).

Volunteers needed for Artpark 'Art of Walking' tours

Artpark & Company is looking for volunteers to check-in, participate and assist guests attending "The Art of Walking" treks at 4 and 6:30 p.m. Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays. Volunteers will receive a free ticket for a family or friend to accompany them on the walk on the day they volunteer. Walks are one hour long.
Old Fort Niagara reopening

Old Fort Niagara will reopen to visitors this Friday, July 3, following its 15-week closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily hours of operation have been shortened slightly, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow for extra cleaning before and after hours. Hourly musket and living-history demonstrations and seasonal food service will resume following proper health and social-distancing guidelines.

The Morgan family reports two kayaks with paddles and lifejackets were stolen earlier this week from Niagara Outfitters along the docks on Water Street in Lewiston. Those with any information are asked to contact the Lewiston Police Department.
