Another successful Northwest Jazz Festival was staged last Friday and Saturday, as thousands of people visited Center Street in the Village of Lewiston to watch top musical acts, mingle with friends, and eat at one of the many local restaurant stands.

As the return of school draws closer, Community Missions will host a free school supply giveaway as part of its "Summer Giveaway Days," from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursday. The public is invited to these events, which will take place at the Niagara Falls agency, 1570 Buffalo Ave. The event is sponsored by SNUG Niagara Falls.

Connect Niagara - the bus service operated by the Niagara County Department of Public Works - will allow all riders to ride for free weekdays from the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, Sept. 2 through Friday, Sept. 12, as part of an effort to introduce more people to the service.

The Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced that culvert work will begin next Wednesday, Aug. 27, on Upper Mountain Road between Sunset Drive and the railroad overpass. This is the next phase in the Upper Mountain Road rehab project that began in July.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has been awarded $28.4 million through New York's Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program IV. On Sunday evening, Artpark & Company hosted the world premiere of Buffalo composer Moshe Shulman's "Beyond Buffalo: A Celebration of Multiculturalism in Music and Dance." The event took place on the Emerald Grove stage, and featured original composition with six musicians and seven dancers working together to showcase several international styles of music and accompanying, distinct styles of dance.
