As is tradition, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Veterans Day was observed with a ceremony at Lewiston's Academy Park. The event, set at the "Circle of Honor," was coordinated by Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487. Vietnam veteran and Lewiston historian Timothy Henderson served as the keynote speaker.

Gov. Kathy Hochul today issued a proclamation declaring Nov. 11 as Veterans Day and recognizing November as Veterans Month across New York state. Hochul further directed 17 state landmarks to be illuminated green this evening as part of "Operation Green Light," which began in New York and has spread throughout the country to recognize veterans and service members from all eras of military service.

Gov. Kathy Hochul today urged caution ahead of forecasted lake-effect snow set to impact portions of Western New York. Winter weather advisories have been issued for Sunday night into Monday morning, with 3 to 6 inches of snow forecasted for Chautauqua County and 3 to 5 inches possible in Niagara and Orleans counties - and localized higher amounts possible.
