At 2:47 a.m. Monday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center was notified of a vehicle pursuit entering Niagara County from the Town of Amherst. It was reported that a silver Cadillac sedan was fleeing Amherst PD after the occupants were found stealing from cars in a local neighborhood.

Niagara Falls: Temporary traffic change, street closure for film production

Portions of Third Street in Niagara Falls will be subject to intermittent closures Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 16-17, while production crews film in the area. The closures will affect Third Street between Niagara and Ferry streets. Niagara Falls Police will be in the area directing traffic.

Residents request Lewiston board rename roadway 'Sutherland Street'

Lewiston lost one of its strongest champions when Bruce Sutherland passed Dec. 27. Three days after the former deputy mayor's death, Tom Deal of Deal Realty suggested a portion of South Sixth be renamed "Sutherland Street." Bruce would often hold court from his house, and he and his wife, Jackie, were popular among neighbors.

The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) announced free rapid coronavirus testing will be available for all Niagara County residents. Starting, Wednesday, Feb. 9, testing will be offered at the Doris W. Jones, Family Resource Center at 3001 Ninth St., Niagara Falls. Testing will be available from 9 a.m. noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Catholic Health received no penalties in the recently released Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) 2022 hospital-acquired condition (HAC) reduction program. For Catholic Health, the value-based incentive program includes patient data from Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Sisters of Charity Hospital, Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
