Lew-Port Class of 1987 has 'Spirit of the '80s'

To celebrate their 25th high school reunion, members of the Lewiston-Porter Class of 1987 are throwing a "Spirit of the '80s" reunion Aug. 10 and 11. The party will take place at The Brickyard Pub & B.B.Q and at Academy Park. Four bands will perform that weekend, including headline act The Spoons.
Kiwanis Club of Lewiston donates to Mount St. Mary's Foundation

The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston presented a $5,000 donation to the Mount St. Mary's Foundation. The money came from proceeds from the 2011 Kiwanis clambake.

Niagara Area Development Corporation approves Niagara University's application for assistance

The Niagara Area Development Corporation board of directors today approved an application for assistance from Niagara University to refinance $24.5 million of existing tax-exempt bonds and for $23.5 million of new tax-exempt bonds to build a state-of-the-art science building on the Lewiston campus.

The racing season is just eight short weeks away for Ransomville Speedway, which will celebrate its 55th season of operation. The Friesen family will enter their 40th as track operators at the famed one-half Niagara County oval.

As with all racetracks, sponsorship remains a valuable part of the weekly operations. We are blessed to have great companies to work with at Ransomville Speedway. State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-60th, sponsored and passed a bill that is designed to change the makeup of the New York Power Authority to include a resident of Niagara County. The bill, co-sponsored by Sen. George Maziarz, R-62nd, amends the public authorities' law to provide that the NYPA board of trustees, appointed by the governor with the approval of the Senate, must contain one trustee who is from Niagara County and one who is from St. Lawrence County.
