The Lewiston Community Lions Club celebrated 15 years of service to the Niagara Region (2009-24) with a dinner, awards presentation and new member event held Tuesday at Cask + Cow Restaurant, 840 Center St.
Following a welcome from President Lion Carissa Cecconi and introductions from Past District Gov. Lion Regina Cecconi special recognition was given to two founding club members: Lion Tom Huisgen was presented the Robert J. Uplinger Service Award, while Ronald Craft was bestowed the Progressive Robert J. Uplinger commendation.
Established in 1993, the award honors outstanding Lions and non-Lions or organizations who perform exemplary service to a club, district or community. These honorees possess the highest examples of Lionistic character, ideals, purpose and service.
Also acknowledged for service was Lion Rob Nichols, who was named a Melvin Jones Fellow.
The Lewiston Community Lions Club welcomed new members Joy Hoysradt, Al Hoysradt, Dawn Marie Schmitt and Linda Johnston. Past District Gov. Jeff Javis emceed a ceremony that highlighted the international organization’s service and support for those who are blind.
