Merchants in the Village of Lewiston are again teaming to provide a pre-Black Friday/Small Business Saturday shopping extravaganza, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

“There's so many other communities that do a ‘Shop Small’ event after Thanksgiving, that we found it was just a really positive thing for us to add an extra little day of shopping and get people in the mood to come back to Lewiston and shop small and support local,” organizer Kathy Pignatora said.

Her business, Inspirations on Canvas, will be among the ‘Holiday Kick-off – Lewiston Style’ participants next weekend.

“Everybody has a lot of similar things to what we're doing on the ‘Shop Small Weekend,’ but it gives us a chance that, say you're going to another community for ‘Shop Small Weekend,’ you can come by and stop and spend some time with us a little bit early, and support the local businesses. That would be much-appreciated,” Pignatora said.

“I think that Center Street works synonymously with just this whole community. I think we add just to everything quaint and wonderful about what Lewiston is all about. We always say that it's magical here, but I think it's the combination of the community (and) what we offer here – not just on Center, but shopping local maybe over on Cayuga, or any of the businesses around here.”

At “Holiday Kick-off – Lewiston Style,” shoppers will find special deals and offerings, in addition to the village’s signature service.

“I think, for us to be successful – sure, we have tourists and people from the surrounding area come visit us – but, I think for us to thrive and be successful, we need the locals, as well. And I think you'll find you're going to get the best customer service at the small businesses,” Pignatora said. “And definitely, when I look around at my shop here, there's not much in here that you would find on Amazon. So, you're going to find really unique things.

“And that's something I hear the tourists say all the time. They love this town. They all want to move here. We should really count our blessings that we get to live here – but we need to support each other in the community.

“So, you will find so many unique things; something different for the people you love, for the holidays.

“Shop local, shop small.”
