Artpark & Company hosted the 12th annual Fairy House Festival last Saturday in Lewiston. Popular with both young and young-at-heart, the event has evolved from an art walk of miniature fairy houses installed by local and professional artists to an international, interdisciplinary and immersive performing arts festival with European street theater groups, modern dance, music and intricately costumed fairy performers.
Visitors once again marveled at the fairy house creations by community and professional artists, and enjoyed the Artpark fairies and roaming musicians outfitted in costume creations by artist and designer Uta Bekaia.
Mucca Pazza, a rock ‘n’ roll marching band from Chicago, performed a rollicking set on the South Fourth Street lawn. Montreal acrobatics troupe Battements de Cirque took to the sky, with members performing on ropes high above the grounds. In the Emerald Grove, students from the Greater Niagara Ballet Co. entertained. And over on the fairy house tour, small creations and magical hidden creatures lined walkways leading to the Artpark Fearie Orchestra.
