This past weekend, hydroplanes showed off their skills on the Niagara River in the 13th annual Thunder on the Niagara boat racing series.
Boat teams came from all over the United States and Canada to entertain viewers not only at Gratwick Park in North Tonawanda, but everyone who viewed from boats in the river and on the shores of Grand Island.
The show, known as "the fastest show on water," featured over 70 race boat teams and hydroplanes, which glide along the river at approximately 170 miles per hour.
Gratwick Park opened at 8 a.m. to viewers, while the first races began at 9 a.m.
Along with the boat races, there were food vendors, a car show on Saturday - which featured well over 100 cars; skydivers on Sunday and a kids zone both days. Both days drew a hefty attendance.
