The Lewiston-Porter Class of 1958 has distinguished itself among alumni in myriad ways. As individuals, they are a uniquely accomplished, both personally and professionally. As a class, dedication and generosity is unparalleled.
The Class of '58 gives back to the Lewiston-Porter district through the Class of '58 Memorial Scholarship program, multiple scholarships established by class members on behalf of family and teachers, the memorial tree and brick projects. The Class of '58 Memorial Scholarship program has been bestowed to more than 45 students, in the amount of over $50,000.
The Class of '58 was integral in founding the Lew-Port Alumni Association in 2007, and continues to provide leadership to the Lewiston-Porter alumni and community.
The Board of Education joined with members of the class, administration and staff, and state and local leaders to honor and celebrate their contributions at a ceremony Tuesday in the Lewiston-Porter High School atrium. A beautiful plaque, with the names of each member of the graduating class, was dedicated in the class's honor. The plaque will be on permanent display in the high school.
The Class of 1958 is also remarkable for its affinity, remaining a tightknit group for 60 years. Members support each other as much as they support their alma mater and community. They will celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation this year.
At each commencement, Lewiston-Porter sends its graduates out into the world with a shared aspiration: We hope we have given them a strong educational foundation and a love of learning, instilled in them a sense of civic responsibility and civic pride, and founded lifelong friendships. We hope we have given them both roots and wings. The Class of 1958 truly exemplifies this. We are ever grateful for their benefaction and enduring dedication to Lewiston-Porter.
