A group of members of the former Town of Niagara Active Hose Firehall band have announced plans for a get-together on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Calvin K. Richards Community Center in Veterans Park located at 7000 Lockport Road in the Town of Niagara, just behind the firehall.

Town of Niagara Historian Pete Ames said former band members from the years 1954 to 1973 are invited to visit and reminisce from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, where photos of the band will be posted for viewing on the big screen. Coffee, doughnuts and water will be available for visitors. Park rental courtesy of Rich Van Orman.

“Please let us know if you can make it or not,” Ames said. “You don't have to be a former band member to attend. Many of your friends will be attending the Niagara Wheatfield High School alumni reunion the following day, so this will be an opportunity to spend more time with some of your old classmates. Hey, if you want, bring your instrument along.”

In addition, Ames invited visitors to bring along any Town of Niagara-related materials for scanning or for permanent donations to the town’s Marsh/Rolling Local History Room at the Community Center.

To RSVP for the event, text Vinnie Vivian at 386-566-1768.
