Fire departments invited to register teams for new event
Erie County Fair press release
The Erie County Fair announced the debut of its inaugural fire truck pull competition, set to take place Friday, Aug. 14, during the 2026 Erie County Fair.
The new event will bring firefighters together for a test of strength, teamwork and friendly competition as teams race to pull a fire truck 75 feet in the fastest time possible. The competition is open to fire departments across the region but is limited to 20 teams. Each fire department may enter one team.
Each team will consist of five competitors (maximum four men, one woman; no subs). If no woman participates, the team competes as a four-person. Teams will receive one timed pull, with the three fastest teams earning first-, second- and third-place honors.
The fire truck pull will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Firefighter’s Day at the Erie County Fair, with event activities scheduled from 3-6 p.m.
The Erie County Fair is proud to highlight the firefighting community and the important role fire departments play across Western New York. Firefighter’s Day features free admission for firefighters and auxiliary members; a $10 voucher valid for food, drinks or rides; the daily firefighter honoree ceremony and the memorial ceremony. The new Erie County Fair fire truck pull competition adds another high-energy way to recognize fire departments, bring firefighters together and showcase their teamwork. The Firemen’s Building is also open daily during the fair with exhibits and experiences including the East Aurora Engine Truck, mask containment maze, and Hands Only CPR with the Buffalo Bills Foundation.
Fire departments interested in participating are encouraged to register early, as space is limited and teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration information and event details are available at www.ecfair.org/firetruckpullregister.
