Press release

The Friends of Youngstown has received funding for summer programming from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation’s Legacy Fund, held at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. The grant will support sport sampling for three weeks in July and August, at no cost for children entering grades 2-7.

“The funding we received in 2025 provided local families an opportunity to learn about street hockey, baseball, and disc golf from experienced coaches,” said Jeff Gruarin, recreation director. “We had great feedback last year, and we’re excited to be able to offer this again.”

Anyone interested in participating should visit the Village of Youngstown Recreation Program online to learn more and register: https://www.youngstownny.gov/229/Sport-Sampling-Ralph-Wilson-Legacy-Fund.
