U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York will welcome 22 new citizens during a naturalization ceremony Wednesday, June 17, aboard USS Little Rock. Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park President and CEO Brian Luallen will offer welcoming remarks. The ceremony will also include a musical performance by the Chopin Singing Society of Buffalo.
The 22 candidates come from the following 13 countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, China, Congo (Kinshasa), El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
“Few events we host each year are as meaningful as a naturalization ceremony,” Luallen said. “As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, it is inspiring to welcome new citizens who have chosen to become part of the American story. We are honored to host this ceremony and congratulate these new Americans and their families on this important milestone.”
