SUNY Niagara Press Release & Photo
SUNY Niagara will celebrate the presidential inauguration of Dr. Lloyd A. Holmes on April 10 in a ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Arts and Media Theatre on the college’s Sanborn campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Holmes is the college’s eighth president. The SUNY Niagara board of trustees selected him to lead the college after a national search. His tenure began July 1, 2024, following his appointment by the SUNY board of trustees and SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr.
Prior to joining SUNY Niagara, Holmes served as president of De Anza College in Cupertino, California, and as vice president of student services at Monroe Community College in Rochester.
A native of Mississippi, Holmes’ first exposure to community college came as a student at Itawamba Community College in Fulton. He went on to the University of Mississippi, earning a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree there before completing his doctorate in educational leadership.
A reception in the college’s Learning Commons will follow the ceremony. The college invites all to join in marking this significant moment in SUNY Niagara’s history.
