Faculty member Dr. Lindsay Rose recently received the Dr. Carol Jamieson Award at SUNY Niagara. This prestigious award recognizes faculty members who embody the qualities of the late Dr. Jamieson, who was described as "a veteran academician with an in-depth historical perspective and acute foresight, a can-do attitude, ever-present resilience, and a willingness to mentor many."

Rose began her career at SUNY Niagara in 2011. One of her strengths is an ability to adapt to the needs of her students while maintaining rigorous curriculum standards. She has introduced new resources that allow students to access lecture videos and notes if they miss a class or wish to review a challenging topic.

Rose continues to inspire her students, nurturing their interest in science. For those pursuing a science-related field, she provides mentorship as they apply for transfer programs and summer research opportunities.

Many of her former students keep in touch with her regarding their academic progress, highlighting the strong connections she builds with them.

In addition to the Dr. Carol Jamieson Award, Rose received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching for the 2018-19 academic year. She has served as the chair of the STEM committee and played a key role in establishing and managing a chemistry A.S. major. Rose has participated in numerous other committees, but her most enduring position has been as the chair of the curriculum committee.

Dr. Estelle Steiner, a colleague of Rose’s, remarked, "Lindsay and I have been in the same division since she started. I have always been impressed with her dedication as a teacher in a challenging field. I have also shared with colleagues that she is an irreplaceable presence at the college. Her attention to detail and commitment to her work truly set her apart."
